Background
Research and Innovation Centre for Science and Engineering (RISE) has been established at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) as a research and innovation hub to foster and promote world-class research and encourage innovations in engineering and the sciences at BUET. RISE functions as the necessary platform to partner with all relevant government and non-government organizations to identify national research priorities and develop appropriate strategies to initiate sponsored research and development endeavours. RISE takes initiatives from faculty members and researchers for generating funds from external and internal sources, channelizes these funds for high-impact research, establishes central research facilities, manages research funds and ensures research compliance.

Promote globally competitive R&D, encourage indigenous innovation in areas of national interest and relevance.
Foster a collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment across all departments of BUET.
Track research activities and generate annual research expenditure and outcome reports.
Support commercialization of BUET technologies through incubation, licensing and spin-off enterprises.
Protect intellectual property through patent search, invention disclosures and patent filing.
Develop strong partnerships with academia, industry and BUET alumni nationally and internationally.
